In Key Stage 1 we follow the National Curriculum Statutory Guidance to plan learning and progression. A two year cycle of themes has been introduced to ensure there is good breadth and coverage across all the different curriculum areas. Areas of learning are revisited regularly but when viewed from different perspectives and themes, children gain better understanding and achieve greater depth.

KS1 Curriculum Planning
In Key Stage 1 we have mixed-age classes and planning takes into account the different learning outcomes for each year group. Children are given lots of opportunities to explore and extend their learning making the most of our community links and the local area. The planning documents are adapted to build on the interests and meet the needs of different cohorts.
Medium term planning documents are used to create a curriculum overview for each half term. Click on the documents to download the curriculum overview for each half term.
